They are approved for release in China
The new versions of the Volkswagen Golf and Golf GTI have been approved by the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology of China, which confirmed that the cars will be released as early as 2024.
This facelift will see the new cars upgraded both outside and inside. The headlights have an angular shape and are equipped with LED daytime running lights of a through type. The front edging of the two models is very different. The GTI version has five-point LED groups on the lower part of the bumper on the sides.
The rear light cluster of the new car has a darkened design. The regular and R-Line versions use a hidden exhaust design, while the GTI version uses a dual exhaust design and has the GTI lettering in the middle of the trunk lid.
The sizes of the two models are also slightly different. The length, width and height of the regular Golf version are 4289, 1788 and 1479 mm respectively, while the GTI version measures 4289 x 1788 x 1468 mm. Wheelbase is 2631 mm.
Different bumpers, rims, and calipers will be available for cars. In addition, the equipment will include lidar and a sunroof.
The regular version will be equipped with a 1.5 liter turbocharged engine with a maximum power of 118 kW. The GTI version will be equipped with a 2.0 liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine with a maximum power of 162 kW.
