The updated Nissan Interstar van gets a fresh look thanks to a wide radiator grille surrounded by C-shaped lighting fixtures. Plastic elements appeared on the body and vertical tail lights.
Nissan said that the model has best-in-class aerodynamics and drag, reduced by 20% compared to the previous model. This helps improve the fuel efficiency of combustion engine variants as well as the range of the new electric vehicle.
Nissan didn't go into detail, but noted that the side door is 40mm wider and the cargo space — 100 mm longer. Buyers will have access to a wide range of factory-built modifications, including Tipper, Dropside and Box Van options. Nissan also said that the van will be able to carry up to 2000 kg in the bed and tow a trailer weighing up to 2500 kg for ICE variants.
The big news is the introduction of the all-new Interstar-e, which is all-electric and features an 87 kWh battery pack that offers a range of over 460 km. When the battery is depleted, the van can be charged for 252 km in 30 minutes.
Since the Interstar-e is designed primarily for city driving, the company will also offer a smaller battery with a capacity of 40 kWh. They promise to make the model more affordable, although the range will be reduced to about 200 km.
Nissan will also offer a 2.0-liter turbodiesel engine, which will be mated to a nine-speed automatic transmission and will deliver class-leading fuel economy.
Van «greatly improved» maneuverability as the turning circle has been reduced by 1.5 m. The company also noted that the model will be equipped with a variety of driver assistance systems, including emergency braking, drowsiness warning, trailer sway control and a tire pressure monitoring system.
