According to the latest plans, Artemis 2 will launch in 2025
The Orion spacecraft, intended for the first manned flight to the Moon in fifty years, was presented to the public. The four astronauts aboard the spacecraft will embark on the Artemis 2 mission, scheduled for September 2025.
NASA has published a series of photographs of the interior of the flight deck of the Orion spacecraft, which is in the final stages of work. Kennedy Space Center in Florida is installing protective panels on the hull and preparing for vacuum testing later this year.
Flight of «Orion» As part of the mission, Artemis 2 will be the first manned flight of this ship. Previously «Orion» has been sent on unmanned missions twice: a short flight to low-Earth orbit in 2014 and to lunar orbit at the end of 2022.
Artemis Program — is a NASA project aimed at returning humans to the Moon and subsequently building a permanent base on its surface as part of the Artemis 3 mission. However, the launch of the Artemis 2 and Artemis 3 missions was delayed due to technical problems. Artemis 2 is currently scheduled to launch in September 2025, and Artemis 3 is expected to launch in 2026.
The construction of a support base will begin at the south pole of the Moon, which will allow crews to take advantage of local resources. To date, more than 30 countries have joined the NASA cooperation framework, confirming their interest in this space program.
