Playtika will cut between 300 and 400 jobs. The Israeli company is known for its work on casual games such as Best Fiends, Pirate Kings and Board Kings.

The staff will be reduced by approximately 10% and layoffs will not affect employees from Israel. Playtika currently employs approximately 3,800 people worldwide. Back in December 2022, the company laid off more than 600 employees and canceled several projects.

In March 2023, Playtika appeared to attempt to acquire Angry Birds maker Rovio, which it eventually bought Sega. The company announced that it will not release new games for the “foreseeable future” to survive the difficult period.

Despite the problems, Playtika spent more than $450 million on acquisitions in 2023 Innplay Labs and Youda Games.

The layoffs will affect mainly employees of the Playtika office in Belarus (about 150 people), which will be closed at the end of February.
