Microsoft has prepared a new feature for its browser. If you're unhappy with how much RAM Microsoft Edge is consuming, then this is for you: The company is testing a built-in RAM limiter.
New RAM controls have been spotted in Edge Canary. Microsoft will allow customers to limit memory usage while playing a game (the browser can automatically detect when a game is running) or always. A special slider will allow you to specify how much memory Edge should not exceed. You can also check your RAM usage and limits in the Browser Basics pop-up menu.
Limiting RAM usage will help redistribute resources to more important applications when running resource-intensive applications, games, or simply using a budget device with a small amount of memory.
Microsoft warns that limiting RAM usage may negatively impact browser performance. You can test the feature now by updating to the latest version of Canary from the Edge Insider program.
