Microsoft has announced its latest financial results, and the world's largest corporation has something to be happy about: gamers are increasingly trusting the Xbox brand.
The second quarter of fiscal year 2024 earned a staggering $62 billion on net income of $21.9 billion, representing 18% growth and 33% growth over previous performance. Hardware sales fell 9%, marking Microsoft's fourth consecutive negative quarter. The Xbox division grew by 3% – perhaps modestly, but still grew.
As for the profit of Microsoft's gaming division, there is some interesting data. First, Xbox is already officially factoring in Activision-Blizzard's results, which saw game revenues grow by a staggering 49%. All services related to the gaming division show even better results – here the increase is as much as 61%, but the main culprit for this success was the addition of the results of the new members of the Xbox Game Studios family. According to the report, the merger with Activision resulted in revenue of $2 billion, but after subtracting the cost of this action (930 million) and other expenses (1.59 billion), Xbox lost $440 million.
