According to an exclusive from Insider Gaming, details have emerged about the criteria that developers must meet to receive the coveted “PS5 Pro Enhanced” tag for their games.

The PS5 Pro Enhanced label, known internally as “Trinity Enhanced,” refers to the game being optimized to take advantage of the improved hardware capabilities of the upcoming PlayStation 5 Pro console. Building on the precedent set by the PlayStation 4 Pro, which introduced the “Enhanced” label, the PS5 Pro is designed to improve gaming with higher frame rates and resolution.

Insider Gaming Editors Gain Access to documents describing the requirements for games that want to receive the PS5 Pro Enhanced label. PlayStation requires eligible games to offer a PS5 Pro exclusive graphics mode with various enhancements:

  1. PSSR for 4K upscaling: Games should use PSSR technology for upscaling to 4K, delivering sharper images.
  2. Stable 60fps for smooth and responsive gameplay.
  3. Ray Tracing Effects: Enabling or enhancing ray tracing effects is essential to enhance visual fidelity and realism in PS5 Pro Enhanced games.

These achievements are possible thanks to the improved hardware specifications of the PS5 Pro, including higher RAM and a faster GPU compared to the standard PS5 console. With 28% faster RAM and a 67% larger and 45% faster GPU, PS5 Pro dramatically increases rendering capabilities, delivering twice the rendering speed of its predecessor.

In addition to these core improvements, games can qualify for the PS5 Pro Enhanced badge if they offer one of the following enhancements:

  • Increased target resolution for fixed resolution games on a standard console.
  • Increased maximum resolution for variable resolution games on a standard console.
  • Higher frame rate targets for games that require a fixed frame rate on a standard console.
  • Integration of ray tracing effects exclusive to PS5 Pro.< /li>
