A turbodiesel version and two hybrids will be sold in Europe
Kia spoke about the engines of the updated Sorento SUV for the European market. The car will be offered with three power units: a traditional 2.2-liter diesel engine and two hybrid units based on a 1.6-liter turbo engine.
The rechargeable hybrid is the most economical: with a charged traction battery, consumption is only 1.6 l/100 km. The capacity of the traction battery is 13.8 kWh, the range on pure electricity is only 86 km. The power of such an installation is 265 hp.
A regular hybrid has everything the same except for the traction battery – its capacity is only 1.49 kWh. Both hybrids use a 6-speed automatic transmission with a built-in electric motor.
As for the diesel engine, it produces 194 hp. and works in tandem with an 8-speed “robot” with two clutches.
The diesel version will go on sale first: the Kia Sorento 2024 with a “heavy fuel” engine can be purchased in January, and hybrids will go on sale at the end of winter or early spring. Prices have not yet been announced, but the updated Sorento is unlikely to be cheaper than the current version, for which in Germany they are asking from 51 thousand euros.
