Engineers are already working on such a transmission
As reported by Quto.ru with reference to «Autoreview», KamAZ is working on its own automated transmission for trucks. Previously, such gearboxes were purchased from the German ZF, but this company left Russia, and the former joint venture «ZF KAMA» has now come under the control of KamAZ.
At the moment, only manual transmissions are produced at the former joint venture, but engineers are already working on a new transmission. It will be a «robot». For it, it is necessary to find actuators that will change gears and press the clutch for the driver. «Robot» differs from a manual transmission in the control unit, for which it is not easy to select settings.
In general, not soon, but in the future KamAZ will have its own robot. Perhaps they will be equipped with the future KamAZ K6.
