The Just Cause franchise died out, and the founder of Avalanche Studios went on a new journey and opened his own, where he makes an ambitious game
A few years ago, one of the founders of Avalanche Studios left the studio known for the Just Cause games and opened his own. Christopher Sundberg doesn't like how many distractions in modern game development affect quality and motivation, and he wanted to fix that with Liquid Swords.
On the Liquid Swords website, the studio's first game is described as narrative-driven; mention a AAA revenge story; open world and modern engine Unreal Engine 5.
Recently, Christopher Sundberg reminded himself again. He decided to show several shots, one of a spectacular car chase and the other of a fist fight scene. He describes them as “Two important parts of the [game] experience.”
The developer also published remarkable photos, this is a motion capture session. Christopher commented on the post: “We'll be bringing a robust, progressive melee experience with impact to Game1.”
Judging by his latest posts, this game is Liquid Swords , which Christopher currently refers to as “Game1”, is planned to be released in 2026.
