Intel, and the performance of the processors themselves will grow? The company promises a big increase, but so far only for artificial intelligence units

This applies to the Panther Lake generation

Processor manufacturers have already begun to focus attention not on the performance of the processor itself, but on artificial intelligence units. And then, apparently, the emphasis will only shift more. For example, the head of Intel said that the Panther Lake CPU line will be much faster than Arrow Lake, but specifically in terms of AI.

The productivity increase will be doubled. This is a lot, and it is hardly possible to achieve such an increase for a CPU in one generation. But the AI blocks in the processors — the direction is new, and here progress will be very rapid, and this is good for marketing purposes.

The head of Intel in his speech focused specifically on AI.

The Core Ultra platform delivers leading AI performance today, and our next generation platforms launching later this year, Lunar Lake and Arrow Lake, will triple our AI performance. In 2025, with Panther Lake, we will double AI performance again

That is, over two generations, Intel will be able to increase the performance of the NPU unit by about six times, although it is still unclear why consumers need this.
