For many people, a blue or black screen of death appears already at the moment of installing the driver
Yesterday Nvidia released the GeForce Game Ready 552.12 WHQL driver, which was supposed to not only optimize ray tracing in some games (Call of Duty Modern Warfare III, Call of Duty Warzone and Diablo IV), but also provide RTX support HDR on many monitors. But instead of optimizing performance, users received stuttering in games and a black or blue screen of death.
«First time I got a black screen while installing the Nvidia driver for my old GTX 1070 and had to hit Reset. But the driver was installed», — wrote one user.
«After downloading and installing the last 3 driver updates, my laptop gives a BSOD/blue screen of death message every time. It just says: "Something may have gone wrong :(". After that just a black screen and I have to force restart the laptop. This only happened with the last 3 drivers, before that everything was fine», — another user shared his story.
Judging by the messages, users have the same problems with both new video cards like the GeForce RTX 3090 and old ones. The same applies to mobile accelerators. Users also report that after installing the GeForce Game Ready 552.12 WHQL driver, games begin to slow down.
