HarmonyOS Next should have around 5,000 apps available by the end of the year

Huawei intends to completely get rid of the Android operating system in its products and finally switch to HarmonyOS Next.

The next version of HarmonyOS is expected to launch alongside the upcoming flagship Mate 70 series, which will be launched in October this year.

Nikkei Asia reports that an added benefit of using HarmonyOS Next on the Mate 70 family is that the operating system uses memory three times more efficiently than Android and supports on-device artificial intelligence. However, the latter is also available for Android.

Last month, Huawei said that HarmonyOS Next can already offer 4,000 applications, and by the end of this year their number should grow to 5,000. Overall, the company wants to reach the 500,000 application mark, but it is not very clear. why.
