There is simply nowhere to drive it in China, and its appearance in the USA or Europe is unlikely
Great Wall made a loud debut in the motorcycle segment with its luxurious touring Soul: the motorcycle received a horizontally opposed 8-cylinder engine and an 8-speed robotic gearbox. But, as it turned out, in China interest in this new product is extremely restrained, and there is a banal reason for this.
The fact is that in China there are simply no conditions for the Soul: motorcycles are prohibited from driving on highways in most parts of the country, and the condition of national and provincial roads is much worse than the condition of highways, it is better to use other equipment there. But even in areas where motorcycles are allowed on motorways, the maximum speed is limited to 80 km/h. What's the use of a 2.0-liter 8-cylinder engine if it can't even accelerate normally?
Great Wall Soul would be perfect for the USA, where touring motorcycles are very popular, and it could also be in demand in Europe, but so far the model is presented only on the Chinese market. And it’s far from a fact that sophisticated bikers from the USA or Europe will happily switch from their iconic Honda Gold Wing to a Chinese motorcycle (no matter how innovative it may be) without a history, even if Great Wall brings the Soul to foreign markets.
The cost of the Great Wall Soul has not yet been announced, but it is already clear that it will be expensive in itself — and not cheap to maintain.
