The bet has risen to $50,000
The now-closed American supercar manufacturer Vector is best known for its first car, the W8. But the company also released the M12 model.
Unlike the W8, which used its own chassis and drivetrain, the M12 basically had Lamborghini undersides. It was produced while Vector was owned by Indonesian firm MegaTech, which also owned Lamborghini at the time. The car used a stretched Diablo chassis and a 5.7-liter Lamborghini V12 four-cylinder engine mated to a five-speed manual transmission.
Despite its Italian appearance, the M12 still looked very much like a Vector. Its wedge-shaped nose, pentagonal doors and wide, full-covering windshield are clearly reminiscent of the original W8.
This M12 was featured on the cover of Wheels magazine and was driven by Jeremy Clarkson in an episode of Top Gear that aired in the mid-1990s. The car is now up for auction. At the same time, a number of service works were first carried out, the machine is in good working order.
This is the fourth of 14 M12s built. The current bid is $50,000.
Vector closed in 2021.
