The most counterfeits were blocked among electronics, lighting equipment, construction tools, cosmetics and sportswear
Since the beginning of 2024, more than 2 million product cards on marketplaces have been blocked in Russia due to complaints from copyright holders. This was reported by the press service of the Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) of Russia.
As the department notes, this happened as part of the implementation of practices for the interaction of marketplaces with copyright holders and sellers in order to prevent the sale of counterfeit products. The document was developed in July 2023 by representatives of OKUR (Non-Profit Partnership «Association of Corporate Lawyers of Russia»), FAS, marketplaces and copyright holders.
Total within the framework of the Wildberries, Ozon, «Yandex Market» program and «AliExpress Russia» blocked 2,066,806 product cards in the first quarter of 2024. Since the document was signed, 4,498,816 product cards have been blocked.
Blocking occurs based on the analysis of complaints from copyright holders, as well as the results of examinations, test purchases and documents confirming the origin of goods. This allows marketplaces to make informed decisions. Among other things, “red flags” help to identify a non-original product: the price is significantly below average, a significant number of returns due to inadequate quality and a number of other indicators.
