Manufacturer switches to crossovers

Mazda is discontinuing its very popular sedan. The Mazda6 is being discontinued in its domestic market, with production expected to end in mid-April. Since its launch 22 years ago, the Atenza/6 has sold 226,437 units in Japan.

The current generation appeared in 2012. The exit from the Japanese market follows the car's exit from the US and UK in 2021 and 2023 respectively.

An equally disappointing fact for fans was that there will be no direct successor to the Mazda6. A brief press release announcing the car's departure from Japan states that the company is switching to the CX line of crossovers.

For Russia, the sedan model was assembled at the Mazda Sollers plant in Vladivostok.
