New versions of Model Y and Model 3 are also being developed

Sources familiar with the situation confirmed that in terms of both the prototype production schedule and the organization of production facilities, Robotaxi takes precedence over the project for a low-cost $25,000 car. This decision was made by Elon Musk.

Meanwhile, several other company executives support the idea of continuing development of the $25,000 model. Company employees confirm that Tesla has been developing a low-cost car architecture for several years that could support several different modifications, including a model without a steering wheel or pedals.

In addition, Tesla reportedly plans to expand development of the next-generation Model Y and Model 3 vehicles, aiming to reduce costs with new components and production methods.

Last week, Elon Musk said that the company plans to lay off more than 10% of its employees. Based on Tesla's total employee count, this layoff will affect more than 14,000 employees.
