The most popular Kia car is the Sportage crossover
In 2023, Russia completely ran out of official Kia and Hyundai cars, and at the end of the year, Hyundai even sold its plant. A major market for these companies was lost, but this did not affect sales in any way. More precisely, they probably could have been more, but even without that, Kia set a record for car sales in 2023.
Over the past year, Kia sold 3 085 771 cars – 6.3% more than in 2022. In the home market, Kia sold 563 thousand cars – growth in annual terms by 4.6%. Outside of South Korea, 2 516 383 cars were sold – an increase of 6.7%.
Kia Sportage is the leader in the sales structure: 523 502 crossovers were sold in 2023. Next come the Kia Seltos (344 013 units sold) and Sorento (242 892 cars sold).
What about Hyundai? In 2023, the company sold 4.22 million cars – 6.9% more than a year earlier.
Kia's target for 2024 – sell 3.2 million cars. Hyundai plans to sell 4.24 million cars this year.
