Earlier this year, it was reported that BMW was planning to discontinue the Z4. Now new information has appeared.

The Toyota GR Supra and BMW Z4 sports cars, which are co-platform and produced on the same assembly line, will be discontinued in 2026, as reported by Automobilwoche.

Auto News asked Toyota about the future of the Supra, to which the company responded that it had nothing to report yet. When Toyota was asked to provide additional information, Toyota Motor North America Group Vice President Dave Crist said, «We have collaborated with BMW, and the collaboration has been successful. We are now assessing what will happen next».

Supra sales were very weak in the US, with 6,830 units sold in 2021. In 2022 they amounted to 4952 units, and last year sales fell to 2652 units.
