After a recent closed presentation for dealers, the Russian representative office of Chery released official details. Chery introduced the Chery Tiggo brand, under which it plans to produce cars powered by alternative energy sources. Previously, the initiative was called Chery NEV (New Energy Vehicles).
The press service said:
After discussion with the dealer community, the management of the company and the Chery Tiggo sub-brand, it was decided to introduce 7 models on the Russian market in 2024 — 4 cars with a hybrid powertrain and 3 cars with full electric traction.
The first model presented under the Chery Tiggo sub-brand will be the electric city car EQ1, the start of sales of which is scheduled for April-May 2024. Next, the following models will be presented in increments of 15–45 days.
The company emphasized that the external design and interior, as well as the specifications and configurations of the Chery Tiggo EQ1 will differ from the model presented on the Chinese market. Currently, research is being conducted among potential clients with the aim of «maximum compliance with their wishes and needs».
