It is built on the 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable, each processor carries up to 60 cores
Russian electronics manufacturer Fplus has developed what it claims is Russia's first four-socket server. It has already passed tests and is ready for mass production. Model «Buran SR-242» demonstrated at the conference «Digital Industry of Industrial Russia» (CIPR), which is currently taking place in Nizhny Novgorod.
The device is based on 4th generation Intel Xeon Scalable processors; four of them can be installed at once. «Buran SR-242» designed for tasks that require maximum performance: working with big data, hosting, creating digital twins, high-performance computing, training artificial intelligence and neural networks.
«Buran SR-242» occupies two units (2U) of a server rack. Each of the four processors is capable of carrying up to 60 physical cores, which means their total number can reach 240 cores. The server supports up to 16 TB of RAM. The company notes that the four-socket design allows you to increase productivity gradually, saving at the initial stage.
Release «Burans» will be at several sites in Russia, including at the Fplus plant in the Moscow region; they plan to add the server to the register of the Ministry of Industry and Trade. The market for four-socket servers is about 6-8 thousand devices; until now, foreign manufacturers have dominated this segment. Fplus said it plans to capture up to 30% of the four-socket market within a year.
