The construction of the MS-21 medium-range aircraft required additional investments in expanding the capacity of the PJSC «Yakovlev» in the amount of 85 billion rubles, as stated by the Governor of the Irkutsk Region Igor Kobzev.

«Today in Irkutsk the expansion of the capacity of the Irkutsk Aviation Plant PJSC "Yakovlev" continues, associated with the construction of the medium-range aircraft MS-21. More than 85 billion rubles of investment have been invested in expansion, — he said.

This will create 15.5 thousand new jobs. Serial production of the MC-21 model is planned to begin in 2025, while all components, including the engine, will be produced in Russia.

«The aircraft’s design uses a record proportion of advanced composite materials in its class, created exclusively at Russian enterprises, more than 30%», said Kobzev.

Kobzev also stated that one of the suppliers of components for the MC-21 is a Russian manufacturer of aircraft systems.
