If you count only the sales of the games themselves
When it comes to the games that made the most money, it is almost always various online games with in-game purchases. But Video Game Insights analysts have created a ranking of the games on Steam that brought in the most money in 2023, if you count just sales of the games themselves.
And it turned out that the undisputed leader was Baldur’s Gate 3 — the best game of the year, according to many ratings. It brought in $657 million, despite being released in the second half of the year. Second place went to Hogwarts Legacy with an income of 341 million, and rounding out the top three was, interestingly, the criticized Starfield, which is also on Game Pass. It brought in $235 million.
The top ten also included Resident Evil 4, Sons of the Forest, Armored Core VI: Fires of Rubicon, EA Sports FC 24, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, the recently released Lethal Company and Cities: Skylines II.
