Will it be possible to fulfill this plan?
The head of AvtoVAZ Maxim Sokolov at the final extended meeting of the Chelyabinsk LLC «SoyuzMash of Russia» reported that in 2024 the plant aims to assemble half a million cars.
«Our production plan this year is about 400 thousand cars. Each car consists of more than 4.5 thousand components. Next year, the plan is to increase our production volume by more than a quarter, overcome the 500 thousand car mark, and thus respond to external challenges», — said Maxim Sokolov.
The goal has been set, but will it be possible to achieve it? The fact is that the 400 thousand cars announced for 2023 will not be there either. For several months now, AvtoVAZ has not published production statistics; there is only data on total sales since the beginning of the year. The latest data on the number of cars produced was in August: then the plant reported that 160.9 thousand cars were assembled over the 7 months of this year. There are also statistics for the 3rd quarter: “more than 118 thousand cars were produced.” If we subtract the July production volume (31.95 thousand cars) from 118 thousand, it turns out that in the three quarters of this year the plant produced 246 950 cars. Obviously, the plant will not be able to produce more than 150 thousand cars in October, November and December. So, as a result, only about 370 thousand Lada cars will be assembled this year.
By the way, due to a shortage of components, AvtoVAZ stopped producing the Lada Vesta and Lada Granta station wagons, and Vesta also lost its airbags.
