Import substitution continues

As part of the import substitution program, AvtoVAZ began using gas tanks made from Russian composite material. Gas tank supplier, DIPO, has successfully replaced imported low-density polyethylene (HDPE) with a similar material produced by the Russian holding Sibur.

In addition, the adhesive layer (adhesive) was also replaced, the new supplier of which was the company «OKAPOL» from Dzerzhinsk. Entirely domestic gas tanks are already installed as standard on Lada Granta cars.

Investments in the project amounted to 200 million rubles, and the annual benefit from the transition to Russian materials is estimated at 300 million rubles. This will not only reduce dependence on imported components, but also significantly reduce production costs.

The next step will be the development of the production of plastic filling pipes and the transition to components from domestic suppliers, such as metal locking rings, rubber ring gaskets and complex polymer components.
