During certification tests, the rotorcraft performed more than 100 flights
Rosaviation approved the main change to the design of the Ka-32A helicopter. This means that the modernized version of the machine – Ka-32A11M – meets all airworthiness standards.
The Ka-32A11M was announced in May 2019, and then it was said that the helicopter could be certified by the end of 2020. In reality it took much longer.
During certification tests, the Ka-32A11M performed more than 100 flights, including the ability to safely take off and land in the event of failure of one of the engines.
The Ka-32A11M is produced by the Russian Helicopters holding company, which is part of the Rostec holding. Differences between the Ka-32A11M – new «glass» cabin, more powerful Russian engines VK-2500PS-02 instead of TV3-117 and a new fire extinguishing system SP-32. The latter is equipped with electrically heated water discharge flaps, hoses and pumps. Capacity SP-32 – up to 4 tons of water and up to 400 liters of foaming agent. It fills in 60 seconds and has digital control of the tank doors.
