Land Cruiser Prado 250 has already debuted in China and the USA, now it’s the turn for the home market. And here’s a big surprise: the car was equipped with old, proven engines — petrol and diesel. Thus, the most powerful Prado 250 with a hybrid power plant — This is exclusively a model for export markets. And in Japan the car is called differently: Land Cruiser 250.
Land Cruiser 250 did not receive a 330-horsepower hybrid installation for the simple reason that the larger Land Cruiser 300 is also sold in the country. Toyota decided to separate these models primarily due to engines.
Sales in Japan will start with the First Edition, it is available for the VX (mid-range) and ZX (top-end) trim levels. In both cases, it will be a car with rectangular headlights on 18-inch black aluminum wheels. The VX package can be equipped with both a gasoline engine and a diesel engine; only a diesel engine is available for the ZX.
In the First Edition configuration with a diesel engine — 14-speaker JBL sound system, driver assistance systems and two 12.3-inch screens.
The Land Cruiser 250 in Japan can have either 5 or 7 seats (in China, we recall, the 6-seater version is certified, but in the USA the SUV has only 5 seats). The length of the car is 4925 mm, wheelbase — 2850 mm.
The diesel engine has a volume of 2.8 liters and, due to turbocharging, produces 201 hp; it is combined with an 8-speed automatic transmission. The petrol version has a 2.7-liter engine with a power of only 160 hp. and a 6-speed automatic transmission. Regardless of the engine, the drive is all-wheel drive with a Torsen LSD center differential and an electronic rear differential lock. There are proprietary off-road systems Multi-Terrain Select and Multi-Terrain Monitor.
In Japan, the Land Cruiser 250 is the cheapest. The price of the basic version — 33.7 thousand dollars (almost 20 thousand dollars cheaper than in the USA, but a hybrid is offered there), the price of the top — 50.9 thousand dollars.
