Fewer CPU cores and less RAM
Apple yesterday introduced new iPad Pro tablets based on the new M4 SoC. As always, details were later revealed that Apple did not talk about at the presentation.
We're talking about the difference between different versions of the new iPad Pro. If you look closely at the Apple website, it turns out that modifications with less memory are worse than older versions.
The new iPad Pro is available in four versions: with 256 GB, 512 GB, 1 or 2 TB of memory. And you can get the most out of new tablets only by purchasing the last two.
Apple has quietly made the basic iPad much cheaper
The two younger versions have less RAM: 8 GB versus 16 GB for the older ones. In the case of MacBooks, we already know that 8GB is a serious performance limiter in certain scenarios, but that's not how tablets are used. The second important aspect is that the younger versions have a stripped-down M4 SoC with 9 CPU cores versus 10 for the older modifications. At the same time, the cluster with productive cores is cut down, and not with energy-efficient ones.
