The gearbox gave up during this run, but the engine did not let us down
The large Toyota Tundra pickup truck is rightfully called a workhorse, and this horse does not disappoint. In the USA, a case was recorded when the owner of a car drove 878,987 miles over 6 years — approximately 1.415 million kilometers. One of the users of the American forum Reddit shared details about this car.
The owner of the pickup reportedly visits the dealer to service the vehicle every two weeks. Considering that the average monthly mileage is no less than 20 thousand km, the engine oil is changed every 10 thousand km. And the engine did not disappoint: the car is equipped with a 5.7-liter i-Force V8 from the factory. A rough calculation suggests that over the entire period of operation (6-7 years) it took about $150 thousand to refuel the car. The V8 engine is thirsty, but reliable.
However, there was one major repair: the gearbox gave out. But this happened on a run of 500 thousand miles (800 thousand km). In addition, only the wheel bearings required replacement. Nothing else was repaired on the car.
