But there were other data earlier
The artificial intelligence boom predictably brought dividends to Nvidia. The company reportedly shipped 3.76 million GPUs for data centers and AI last year.
That's 1 million more than what was shipped in 2022, resulting in sales up more than 42%.
According to HPCwire, these numbers show that Nvidia maintained its data center GPU market share of 98% in 2023. However, we have seen other estimates of Nvidia’s share that are not so categorical. For example, AMD sold about 500,000 accelerators for AI last year, and in this case, Nvidia’s share, neither in quantitative nor in monetary terms, simply cannot reach 98%. But there is also Intel, which is inferior even to AMD, but still sells its accelerators to Gaudi.
Nvidia recently overtook Apple in capitalization, taking second place, but then the shares quickly pulled back, and now Nvidia is again catching up. However, the gap between the companies is small.
