You will be able to chat with ChatGPT just like on PC and smartphones
Volkswagen has officially announced that its AI chatbot ChatGPT will be integrated into the automaker's existing IDA voice assistant and will appear in various models later this year. ChatGPT will bring «interesting conversations» and much more in Volkswagen ID, Tiguan, Passat and Golf models.
In theory, this means that you can ask a wide variety of ChatGPT questions and get answers to them. Volkswagen is tight-lipped about the details, although the press release claims that the chatbot will be able to «provide relevant answers to almost any imaginable query».
On the security front, VW says the ChatGPT integration does not provide access to vehicle data, so no personal information will be sent online. In addition, all questions «are immediately deleted».
«Volkswagen has always democratized technology and made it accessible to many, — said Kai Grünitz, Volkswagen board member for technical development. — It's just ingrained in our DNA. As a result, we are now the first series manufacturer to make this innovative technology a standard feature for vehicles from the compact segment upwards.
A VW spokesperson told Motor1 that the ChatGPT feature will be launched first in European markets starting in the second quarter of 2024. It is currently undergoing approval in the US.
