Apparently, Ilyushin Finance Co. demands a refund for undelivered Airbus A220 aircraft
“Ilyushin Finance Co.” (IFK, part of the United Aircraft Corporation) filed a lawsuit in the Moscow Arbitration Court against Airbus Canada Limited Partnership, a joint venture between Airbus and Bombardier. Materials explaining the essence of the matter have not been published, but we are most likely talking about a refund for undelivered Airbus A220s.
Just 10 years ago, Ilyushin Finance Co. signed an agreement with Bombardier for the supply of 42 CS300 aircraft (aka Airbus A220). The firm contract included 32 aircraft, but in 2016 the order was reduced to 20 aircraft. Due to Western sanctions imposed last year, the contract was terminated; it is likely that now we are talking about compensation to IFC for the funds paid for the delivery of the Airbus A220.
Last year, a similar lawsuit was filed with the Moscow Arbitration Court by Rostec’s leasing subsidiary Aviacapital Service, which contained a demand to return the advance payment for Airbus A350 aircraft for Aeroflot.
