It can cut large steel and reinforced concrete structures of any configuration. Previously, such equipment was only imported
Rosatom specialists have created, according to them, unique equipment for the Russian market, designed for the decommissioning of nuclear and radiation hazardous facilities, as well as industrial dismantling. The diamond wire machine was developed in Russia in order to replace imported similar equipment. The first of three samples has now been manufactured and its life tests are being carried out.
A diamond wire saw can cut large-area steel and reinforced concrete structures of any configuration. Electric drives and a pneumatic tension system provide an incomparably longer service life, maintainability and productivity compared to hydraulic machines, Rosatom notes. The domestic wire rope machine has automatic electronic safety systems, is easily and quickly installed at the operating site and is characterized by high cutting efficiency.
According to the manufacturer, the development and production of the prototype took about six months, and this is an extremely short time frame. It is planned to produce three prototypes of a diamond wire saw, conduct tests on radiation-contaminated equipment and seasonal tests in the winter, and then move on to mass production, but taking into account the individual wishes of customers. According to the results of endurance tests, a reinforced concrete slab with metal pipes inside was fragmented in literally 10 minutes — this is a good indicator.
