But you shouldn’t expect it right now
Apple is reportedly still working on a foldable version of the iPhone.
The Information resource says that Apple is already testing various prototypes, but this does not yet mean that the foldable iPhone will be released in the near future.
At the moment, there are two main problems for Apple with this form factor: the strength of the design with a hinge and the presence of a fold in the screen.
Folding smartphones have been produced for several years now, and in general they do not have any special problems with hinges. On the other hand, Apple is known for supporting its iPhones for a very long time, which are also very popular in the secondary market, so the reliability of the hinge is clearly a more important issue for Apple. As for the fold, all modern folding smartphones have it in one form or another, however, the very first version of the Motorola Razr, due to its unique design, was devoid of this feature.
The issue of price is also worth noting. Top-end iPhones are already quite expensive, so a foldable model may simply not be of interest to the market at the price Apple would like to set.
