Now the maximum for the segment is 3.3 GHz
The Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 single-chip system will probably operate at a very high frequency for a mobile SoC.
Phoenix cores are rumored to have a frequency of 4 GHz! For comparison, Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 has a maximum core frequency — 3.3 GHz, and Dimensity 9300 — 3.25 GHz. In general, this is the maximum for today's single-chip systems used in smartphones.
Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 will switch to TSMC's 3nm process technology, so it can afford higher frequencies. Another question — energy efficiency. At a frequency of 4 GHz, even a new technical process may not save the platform from impressive energy consumption and throttling.
