New details have appeared
Chery recently revealed details about the Omoda 7 model, which will officially be sold in Russia. This is a new car that was unveiled at an event organized by Chery for overseas dealers at its headquarters in Wuhu, Anhui Province.
Omoda was originally a Chery model name, but then it became an export brand. This name was first used in Russia and other markets of the former USSR. Omoda has a more prestigious positioning than the Chery brand. The new Omoda 7 is a continuation of the original Omoda 5.
Omoda 7 will be available with a hybrid powertrain and a conventional internal combustion engine. The dimensions of the crossover are 4621 x 1872 x 1673 mm with a wheelbase of 2700 mm. It is equipped with 20-inch wheels with a spiral pattern. The platform is a stretched version of the one that underlies Omoda. The vehicle is equipped with dual hydraulic suspension and an advanced fly-by-wire braking system.
At the front, Omoda 7 has a closed grille with a dot matrix pattern. It is reported that the pattern on the front panel can be illuminated. Following the typical styling that is currently popular among Chinese crossovers, the Omoda 7 features a «floating» roof thanks to a two-tone paint job with black above the window line. A notable feature was the semi-recessed door handles.
Inside, the Omoda 7 has a 15.6-inch screen that can be moved from the center to the passenger side, like the Zeekr X. It has a 2.5K resolution, 1000 nits of brightness and functions for controlling the car not only through the screen, but also using gestures, and voices. Chery claims that the steering wheel is made in a gaming style – presumably inspired by the PlayStation 5 controller. The seats also feature a gaming-inspired design and are made from nubuck.
An excellent noise reduction system in the cabin, a Sony audio system with 12 + 2 speakers, with +2 — These are small speakers in the driver's headrest for functions such as navigation guidance and phone calls. Omoda 7 also comes with a fragrance dispenser.
The Omoda 7 is based on the already familiar Chery Kunpeng hybrid system with a 1.5 liter gasoline engine. The maximum engine power is 115 kW with a maximum torque of 220 Nm. At the event, an electric range of 95 km and a combined range of 1,200 km were announced. Fuel consumption will be 4.98 l/100 km.
