CAPTCHA is a computer-based challenge-response test that is used to determine whether a person or a computer is using a system. Most often used when it is necessary to prevent the use of Internet services by bots, in particular, to prevent automatic registration, downloading files, mass mailings, etc.

Traditionally, CAPTCHA hints show a series of letters and numbers that the user must enter correctly; or a set of images – bridges, motorcycles, pedestrian crossings and the like. However, increasingly, puzzles are becoming so complex that real people cannot solve them.

“To be honest, things are going to get weirder because now you're going to have to do something that doesn't make sense,” says Arkose Labs CEO and founder Kevin Goshalk. “Otherwise, big multimodal models will be able to outsmart everyone.”

Techradar mentions so-called invisible checks—tools that collect thousands of signals in the background, such as those associated with a device rather than the user itself, or detect proxy servers used by scammers.
The “invisible” nature of these calls means that it is much more difficult for bots to adapt to them and learn, given that the code works behind the scenes and does not present an obvious test to the robot.
