But the airline will still evaluate the impact of this on its development strategy
According to the CEO of the Aeroflot group Sergei Alexandrovsky, the airline does not see anything critical in postponing the delivery of Russian aircraft. Aleksandrovsky stated this at a meeting of the Committee on Economic Policy in the Federation Council. Let us remind you that at the end of February of this year it became known that the deliveries of import-substituted MS-21 and SJ-100 were postponed to 2025–2026, whereas previously there was talk of the first deliveries in 2024. The Ministry of Industry and Trade explained the postponement by the need to conduct full tests of new airliners.
Our industry has slightly adjusted its plans for the production of domestic aircraft, so we will need an additional assessment, we will evaluate the impact, how it will affect our development strategy until 2030. We don’t see anything critical in this; airlines, of course, need domestic aircraft, safe, high-quality ones. Therefore, if additional time is needed, we will wait six months or a year, but we will get those planes on which passengers will be happy to fly.
Sergey Aleksandrovsky
Head of «Aeroflot» also noted that the airline is ready to develop and operate new domestic aircraft and plans to sign the second «firm» contract for their supply. Previously, an agreement was signed for the supply of a total of 339 aircraft, under its terms in 2023–2030 the group will receive 210 MS-21, 89 SJ-100 and 40 Tu-214 aircraft. 52 aircraft have already been issued with «solid» contracts, the next contract is now being prepared, added Aleksandrovsky.
