This kind of payload capacity is rare for electric pickups because it is sacrificed to the traction battery
The Isuzu D-MAX pickup truck, popular in Asia (and once in Russia), will receive a completely new power plant — electric. A Japanese resource has revealed details about this car, and they look interesting.
Usually electric pickups have rear-wheel drive (rarely are they all-wheel drive) and greatly lose payload due to the heaviness of the traction battery, but this is not the case with the Isuzu D-MAX BEV. The car will have all-wheel drive (the power of the front electric motor is 54 hp, the rear one is 122 hp), and the load capacity will be 1 ton. The capacity of the traction battery will be 66.9 kW·h. The car will be able to accelerate to 130 km/h. The length of the Isuzu D-MAX BEV will be 5305 mm, width 1880 mm.
The pickup truck will be officially presented on March 27 at the motor show in Bangkok. Production will start in Thailand this year, and next year the car is planned to be delivered to Norway, the UK and Australia.
