Investments in the project for the production of passive safety systems will amount to about 1.5 billion rubles
Governor of the Ulyanovsk region Alexey Russkikh spoke about the project of the Sollers company for the production of domestic passive safety systems.
“ Today we signed an agreement with the Sollers company on a new project, investments amounting to about 1.5 billion rubles. The project envisages the creation of production of passive safety systems for cars. We are talking about airbags, completely, with 100% localization of production of the steering column, the steering wheel itself, and seat belts ,” said Alexey Russkikh. He added that passive safety components will be used not only in UAZ vehicles (Sollers owns the Ulyanovsk Automobile Plant), but will also be supplied to other plants.
“ We are going to make airbags, steering wheels, electronic safety management systems and seat belts. The level of localization will be very high, including the localization of magnesium alloys, which have never been made in Russia before ,” said Nikolay Sobolev, General Director of Sollers PJSC.
According to the plan, the production of passive safety systems, new for Russia, should be launched in the first quarter of 2025.
