Nuclear powered ship with a capacity of 120 MW will be built by 2030, there are no analogues in the world

Chepetsk Mechanical Plant (CMP, a Rosatom enterprise) began production of titanium pipes with spiral ribs and a regulated ultra-fine structure. They are necessary for heat exchange systems of ship power plants: due to the twisted shape of the fins, gaps are formed between the pipes, which ensures the rigidity of the steam generator structure. Pipes made of titanium alloy are not subject to corrosion in sea water, they are also highly reliable and have a long service life, the manufacturer notes.

A batch of pipes has already been shipped to the enterprise of the machine-building division of Rosatom and will be used in the production of equipment for the icebreaker “Russia” under construction. It has an increased power of 120 MW and can overcome ice up to four meters thick. This will allow large-tonnage vessels to sail along the Northern Sea Route all year round, and it will be able to become an international transport artery, according to Rosatom.
