Rospatent decided to cancel the patent of entrepreneur Artashes Ikonomov, thus fulfilling the requirements of Apple.
It is noted that the Chamber of Patent Disputes made this decision «taking into account the expiration of the patent and the arguments of the parties». «Patent stumbling block» was in effect from 2013 until the end of 2023.
The inventor filed a lawsuit in the Presnensky District Court of Moscow for 295 billion rubles back in 2019, demanding that Apple be prohibited from selling iPhones with the «Emergency Call — function. SOS», and also oblige Apple to remove such phones from circulation and destroy them. Initially, the lawsuit dealt with the iPhone 5S, iPhone 7, iPhone 8, iPhone X, iPhone XR, iPhone SE, iPhone 11 and iPhone 12 models. In addition, Ikonomov demanded compensation from Apple in the amount of 295 billion rubles.
