Plant «Hyundai Motor Manufacturing Rus» in St. Petersburg begins to call workers to production after a period of downtime. The first working day at the plant is scheduled for January 9, 2024, as reported by the telegram channel «Avtopotok» with reference to own sources.

Hyundai Motor Company decided to sell its share in the St. Petersburg plant to the Russian company LLC «Art-Finance». Deputy Prime Minister and Head of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov said that «Art-Finance» in collaboration with industrial partners, it is already exploring the possibilities of quickly resuming car production at the plant. Hyundai Motor remains committed to warranty and service maintenance of vehicles in Russia.

The Hyundai plant was launched in St. Petersburg in 2010, it is designed to produce 200 thousand cars annually. Before production was suspended in March 2022, the plant produced Hyundai Creta and Solaris, as well as Kia Rio and Rio X-Line.

Sergey Tsyganov, the host of the telegram channel Russian Automobile, who regularly reported on the state of affairs at the Russian Hyundai plant, provided an exclusive commentary on the sale of the enterprise : «They want to keep the plant for themselves, sacrificing part of the asset — a set of components for assembling 70 thousand cars. These cars «Avilon» are mainly of interest, they don’t need a factory».
