United Engine Corporation, part of Rostec, reported that the latest Russian turboshaft engines VK-1600V and VK-650V are at the «finish line» development.

«We are also entering new segments: these are engines for light and medium helicopters. This is the VK-650V engine for the Ansat helicopter. — this is primarily a civilian application, and the Ka-226 — predominantly military. And the VK-1600V engine for the Ka-62 helicopter. Both of these engines are under development, but somewhere already at the finish line», — told to the UEC.

The VK-1600V is being created not only for the Ka-62, but also for multi-purpose and special helicopters with a take-off weight of 5-8 tons. As Rostec said, today there are no domestic engines of this size. The uniqueness of the motor lies in the fact that electronic design and 3D printing were used during development.
