The former Continental tire plant in Kaluga has been rebranded and now produces tires under the Gislaved brand, as reported by Kommersant.

General Director of «Cordiant» Vadim Volodin reported that the plant entered the tire cluster based on JSC «Kordiant», which includes tire factories in Yaroslavl, Omsk, Kaluga region (formerly Continental AG) and Ulyanovsk (formerly Bridgestone).

In 2024, the updated Gislaved plant is scheduled to produce 2.1 million tires for cars, which is 12% more than in 2023. The maximum capacity of the plant in the Kaluga region is about 3.5 million tires annually.

Vadim Volodin confirmed that Gislaved is going to introduce a new premium tire brand to the Russian market. The Gislaved brand was founded in 1893 in Sweden and began producing tires for cars in 1905. At the end of the last century, Gislaved was absorbed by Continental AG.
