Toyota in third place
Tesla's ten-year maintenance and repair costs are the lowest in the auto industry, according to a new study published by Consumer Reports, which added: «Tesla has the lowest maintenance costs».
Over a ten-year period, Tesla's total maintenance and repair costs were just $4,035, while the corresponding costs for Land Rover and Porsche reached $19,250 and $14,090, respectively. The cost of maintaining a Tesla car is just $580 for the first five years, much lower than the $900 required for the second-place Buick. It is worth noting that in the top five car brands with the lowest maintenance costs there are four — American companies, namely Tesla, Buick, Lincoln and Ford.
«Over ten years, maintenance and repair costs can vary by brand by thousands of dollars, — said Steven Elek, director of Consumer Reports' automotive data analytics program. — Additionally, maintenance and repair costs for luxury models tend to increase. And over time, maintenance becomes very expensive».
Third place in the ranking is taken by Toyota with a result of $4900, fourth place by Lincoln ($5040), and Ford ($5400) closes the top five.
If you're considering buying a luxury model, it may be wiser to choose an American brand with lower maintenance and repair costs. For example, ten-year maintenance and repair costs for a Mercedes-Benz model are more than twice as high as for a Lincoln model.
