Cars will be released initially, and later motorcycles
The Italian-Chinese brand SWM, a manufacturer of cars and motorcycles, announced its official entry into the Russian market. Despite some delay, the company is confident in the success of its endeavor.
«They say we are a little late. But we believe that a good dinner is never too late,” said Xie Yun, vice chairman of Shineray, SWM’s parent company. The company already has 500 service and sales points around the world and plans to actively develop its network in Russia.
The main difficulty associated with entering the market late was the choice of partners. As a result, SWM chose the company «Avtotor» and developed a cooperation plan for several years ahead. The companies hope for a long-term partnership, designed for 20–30 years.
According to Dmitry Ivanov, head of Vostok Veter Rus, the official distributor of SWM in Russia, the brand’s cars have already been available on the market since December last year, but the official announcement of the release was made only now . Starting in April, the company is launching a test drive program so that potential customers can personally evaluate SWM vehicles before purchasing.
In addition, SWM offers an attractive after-sales service program including free maintenance for the first year. The company has already taken care of the availability of spare parts, and 75% of the range of spare parts is available at the Moscow warehouse. To ensure fast delivery of spare parts, SWM plans to use air transport.
The SWM line will include the G01, G01F and G05 Pro crossovers. The first two are presented only in a five-seat version, while the last one is available with five or seven seats.
The cars will be equipped with a 1.5-liter gasoline engine producing 139 hp. pp., combined with a seven-speed robotic gearbox. The engine runs on AI-92 gasoline, and consumption ranges from 7.7 to 8.9 liters per 100 km. New products from SWM are equipped with LED optics, a digital instrument panel, an advanced multimedia system, a surround view system, a climate control system with an air ionizer, a panoramic roof, a full winter package and various electronic assistants.
A company representative confirmed that SWM is already testing electric cars in China, and no decision has been made regarding their release in Russia: «We are studying the conditions and climate in Russia».
Previously it was reported that the price for SWM G01F will start from 2.6 million rubles, and for the flagship SWM G05 Pro the price will vary from 2.62 to 2.73 million rubles, but the price was not announced at the presentation spoke.
In addition, the Russian SWM line will include motorcycles Stormbreaker V 1200, SuperDual 650, motorcycle with sidecar Tornado 520, SWM 500 and 500GY, as well as Kingroad 650, but their presentation will take place later.
