Subaru will get rid of its legendary heritage: Subaru Legacy will soon be discontinued

Legacy is no longer sold in Japan and Australia, but the car can be purchased in the USA

The American division of Subaru announced that the Legacy model («legacy» from English) is living its last months: the car will be discontinued next year. Interestingly, the price of Legacy 2025 has already been announced: it will correspond to the price of this year’s car — 26 thousand dollars.

Legacy sales in the United States began to decline in 2020 with the release of the seventh-generation model, and since then only about 25 thousand cars are sold per year. At the same time, the current Legacy is not sold in its homeland of Japan and Australia.

Subaru introduced the Legacy in 1989 — it was the first model created for the US market. Since then, all Legacies have been produced in the United States at the Lafayette, Indiana plant. In just 35 years, more than 1.3 million Legacies were sold in the country.

What kind of car will it be instead of Legacy — it is unknown, but the company itself once again announced its desire to electrify the line. It sounds strange, since Subaru was not even able to release the new generation hybrid Forester, which buyers were really looking forward to. A hybrid promised this year, but will it — It’s still unclear: there are still no details about him. We'll probably have to wait even longer for pure Subaru electric cars.
