Announcement expected next week
Sony has confirmed that the Xperia 1 VI will be presented in a few days, on May 15th. Meanwhile, many key specs, including camera information, have been leaked in promotional images.
The following camera modules are expected in Xperia 1 VI:
- Ultra-wide-angle (16 mm): 50 MP Sony LYT600 (1/2-inch optical format);
- Main camera (24 mm): 48 MP Sony LYT800 (1/1.4 inches);
- Telephoto (85–170 mm): 50 MP LYT500 (1/2.9 inch).
The 50MP ultra-wide-angle and telephoto sensors are a significant improvement over its predecessor's 12MP sensors.
The interesting thing is that the Xperia 1 VI and Xperia 10 VI are supposed to have the same camera sensors, but for different purposes. Leaks confirm that the Xperia 10 VI will feature LYT600 and LYT500 in the main and ultra-wide-angle cameras respectively.
The Xperia 1 VI is expected to feature an OLED display with an aspect ratio of 19.5:9, while the Xperia 1 V has a 21:9 aspect ratio screen. The display will reportedly be 1.5 times brighter than its predecessor.
